Picnics, books and run up to revision.
Hey all!
Last Bank Holiday Monday I went to Bath to meet some of the local lolis. Had a lovely picnic in front of the Royal Crescent. I enjoyed Bath immensely, its such a beautiful city.

It was so hot I was dying to wear a hat most of the day, then struck lucky in a charity shop!
I took some pictures of Cardiff whilst it was still pretty! Its now just reverted back to rain.
As part of my Japanese revision motivation recently I've been finding my favourite book quotes and stuff in Japanese. You can do this in a variety of ways including the internet or if you can just get your hands on the translated book then do that! I have a small collection of Japanese books including Alice in Wonderland/Alice Through the Looking Glass, Harry Potter and some Beatrix Potter too.
(Photo is my own)
Looking at Japanese wiki pages can also be insightful into how your favourite literature is translated. For example I hadn't realised till recently that the way movie titles and book titles are translated are very different. e.g. The Lord of the Rings books are known as 指輪物語(ゆびわものがたり)whereas the movie titles are ロード・オブ・ザ・リング. Literally 'Lord of the Rings' in katakana. This is part of the reason why I find culture and linguistics so interesting. Why do they differentiate in its use like this? I can understand the logic behind both because one is a translation for literature and the other a translation for a movie franchise, but I still don't get 100% why they can't use the book title for the movie too. Its definitely something for me to investigate further.
I highly recommend getting copies of your favourite books translated even if you don't think you'll be able to read them yet. It gives you something to compare and you can try to glean information and grammar out and try to push yourself further with your reading. I also find it interesting to try and glean what I feel has been lost in translation, but also that because the languages express things in different ways it gives you a new perspective on something that you maybe already familiar with.
Now I have exams for the next month or so and providing I pass everything I shall be off to Japan in September. And that is sort of terrifying. If you have exams too, good luck!

Exciting weekend!
Hey all!
Just a quick update about what I've been up to.
Friday I went to see Northern Ballet's version of The Great Gatsby! It was awesome and they still have a few dates left so if you have the chance to go I highly recommend it. Last year I saw their production of Beauty and the Beast and that was amazing too. I try get every opportunity I can to go to the ballet, I love it.
I loved this hat so much! The little Sylvanian families were such a cute touch!
Lolis with lollies!
Grumpy cat!
I look a little derp in this pic because it was so windy!
Everybody looked so elegant!
This article was also just publishes on Intrinsically Florrie. Its a very good read, I always think Florrie has a great down to earth way of telling it how it is!
Thats all I have for now. I am in the middle of writing a review for Iron Man 3. I saw it on Thursday, but I can't quite find a good way to articulate my thoughts on it yet...

Cream Tea with the Home Girls and New Season Drama!!
Hey all!
Sunday I met up with my loli friends and had cream tea. We also went to the vintage fair! Yay.
Now, onto the drama!!
The dramas I will probably be following this season are:
-Vampire Heaven
-Kamo, Kyoto e iku
-Last Cinderella
-Sennyu Tantei Tokage
I have just finished watching episode one of Kamo, and I like it thus far but I think it'll start picking up speed in the next few episodes. I love traditional Japanese culture so this will be fascinating for me. Its about a woman who works for the Japanese Government in finance. Her mother living in Kyoto passes away leaving her daughter with the family inn, and 300million yen's worth of debt. In the first episode we see how Kamo hates Kyoto culture and tries to change the inn and cut costs. I shall see how I feel about this after a few episodes though ;)
I have seen two episodes of Last Cinderella and I love it. Its funny, has a great plot and a great cast. The story is about a woman who is a beautician but cares nothing for her own appearance. Theres two love interests (although atm only one has come forth). Theres also side stories about the lead character's two female friends. What I found interesting about this drama is its attitude towards sex. It frequently crops up, but not in the same way it normally does in drama where its either over glamourised in hotel suites or mentioned in ushered giggled tones using every other word but 'sex'. In this drama they're pretty open about it and I find that quite refreshing. It gives the drama a much more grown up feel. Also Haruma Miura plays one of the love interests and he is a particular favourite actor of mine. He was also in Bloody Monday and if you haven't seen that yet, you should.
Also I'm trying to catch up on last season's Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou
I'm still trying to find the time to watch the others, but when I do I expect I shall try to write something up about them. At the moment I'm going through a number of university assessments before exams so I want to do well!

I'm about half way through and I love it. Its combines two things I love: clever detective work and old books. Definitely worth a watch.

Long time no see...
Hey everyone!
This is an apology more than everything; I'm really sorry I've barely updated at all this year D':
Things at university have been hectic and I've been having to do all my application stuff for next year and loads of cw etc. Next I have exams! As a result of this I shall predict that I probably won't be updating much/at all until the summer when I have free time to do projects and stuffs that I can actually write something interesting about! I just had my birthday so I got sent a lolita sewing book from Japan called 乙女のソーイングBOOK (Otome's sewing book). Amazon page here. When I get round to using it I shall be writing how to use guides and translations of stuff.
I also bought my ticket for this year's Tea Party Club extravaganza: Frock On! I shall hopefully be making my own outfit for that; but we shall have to see how that goes :P
If anything interesting actually happens I shall post, but until then I do have a pinterest account which I use relatively frequently, feel free to follow me! http://pinterest.com/naruhime/
